Open cabinets or cabinet doors

If you follow me on social media.  You’ve probably seen that I had been contemplating open cabinets.

There’s a reason people have cabinet doors. Usually, it’s about containment… Keep everything where it belongs and hide ALL the clutter.
As a clutter collector, that is two points for cabinet doors.

But those open cabinets…. They look so beautiful and put together and if I had them, I’d feel like I’m a real, grown up and stylish blogger.  I strive for less clutter in my life and the idea of magazine ready shelves gives me goosebumps!

But open cabinets have some drawbacks. I don’t live alone.  I’d have to rely on my people to keep it pretty, too.  If I were to do it, it would require purging a LOT of coffee cups.  (I’m not sure I can live without my Magnolia coffee mug.)  And then, in a conversation with my Aunt Jo, she dealt the death blow to open cabinets-DUST!!!

Dust is my nemesis.  It’s all over this old house of mine.  The idea that having open cabinets would give me more places to dust absolutely sealed the deal.  And truthfully, the idea of being able to keep my beloved coffee mugs didn’t make me sad. The doors are going back on and my coffee cups will be tucked sweetly in the cabinets.

I’m spending my Saturday painting the cabinet doors so they can go back up before the weekend is over.  Stay tuned for an updated photo.
