A coat of paint

It was a long winter.  I putzed around a bit but truthfully, I had trouble motivating myself to really get going.  I kept telling myself I wasn’t doing it because my husband gets nervous when I do things or I was too busy.  Truth is, I was just struggling with motivation.  And then…  I decided to add a coat of paint to our back door.

Paint is literally the easiest and most inexpensive way to breathe new life into almost anything.  My back door has long been neglected.  It was brown and blah and dull.  It was long past time to spice it up a bit.

The color is Chianti from Behr paints. It’s just a little paint in a lovely wine color but it helps…  And really I try to thrive on little victories like these because my house overwhelms me.  There’s so much I need to do and even more that I want to do.  If only I were independently wealthy and could just do it all in one big remodel…

But I’m not.  I’m like you.  I am tackling this house one little bit at a time.  If I’m being honest with you, even the little bits sometimes feel overwhelming and feel like more than I can handle.  I’m no quitter, though.  I’ll keep going, trying, plugging along and I’ll keep dreaming of how wonderful it will be when I’m done.

And after I painted the door, I felt capable again.  I felt like I could tackle things…  So, I’m back at it in the kitchen.  While I liked my DIY cabinet doors, I am thinking outside of the box when it comes to my kitchen cabinet doors and I’m trying something else.   I know it’s not the kind of thing most people would do which weirdly adds to its appeal for me.  I’m excited to share it with you.

Now that the weather has broken, what have you been up to?  What are you working on?
