Kitchen Refresh- Where am I now?
What’s left to do…
With the cabinet doors painted, I’d love to say my work is done. But this kitchen refresh is far from over… There is still a lot I’d like to do and a few things I need to do.
-Add handles to the doors
-Level the floor where the refrigerator was
-Replace 1970s plastic drawers with wood drawer boxes & add drawer fronts
-Clad the side of the utility cabinet in wood
-Paint the mudroom, kitchen and family room (all one color so they blend)
-Ban the yellow counter tops to the 70s where they belong. They’re functional but… I’m tired of feeling like Carol Brady.
-New lighting?
-A rug?
-A new clock?
-Tile back splash?
-Would love a new kitchen table!!!
Clearly, this is still a pretty substantial list. Paint is relatively inexpensive but the rest will require a decent budget. Winning scratch off tickets, anyone?
To recap how much I’ve invested thus far…
–One gallon of primer $18
–One gallon of Dutch Boy cabinet paint in “White” $25
–Project wood at Lowe’s for Shaker trim. (Approximately 30 pieces @ $2.76 each) $83
–Handles (16 @ $10.19) $163
–Cabinet pulls (1 package of 10 @ $17.99) $18
–One unfinished utility cabinet from Menards. $180
For a total investment so far of around $500. Not bad at all, right? That doesn’t include my piece of butcher block from Menards ($71). I’m not sure it’s staying so if you’d like to add that to the total budget, go for it. Even if I stopped now, for under $600, I have what feels like a new kitchen to me. I will probably take a little time off to get into the swing of the school year, enjoy a few Pumpkin Spice Lattes and then tackle the rest… Stay tuned.
And don’t forget, I still have to share my office changes with you.
