Replacement drawer fronts
By now, you have probably figured out that my kitchen is a work in progress. I’m really happy with the way the cabinets turned out but now I have to address the dirty little secret that is my kitchen drawers. Y’all, they’re plastic and they need replacement drawer fronts to coordinate with the new cabinet doors.
They are plastic and covered in groovy 70s contact paper. And yes, my friends, that black bit near the drawer front is duct tape. Plastic breaks rather easily—at least with a family of 6 opening and closing drawers 1,000x a day.
That’s a lot of duct tape…
Clearly, we need to address this. Every time I pull out a drawer, I’m afraid everything will come crashing to the ground. My newfound carpentry skills don’t save me from being intimidated by the idea of making my own drawers. I decided to have someone else make the drawers and I’m anxiously waiting for them to be done. In the meantime, I will be handling replacement drawer fronts.
You may have already noticed, I installed the new drawer fronts under my sink.
The left drawer is my old style drawer front and old hardware. The drawer front on the right is the replacement with new hardware. What do you think? I’ll give you an update when the new drawers and fronts are installed! I’m SO excited for that to happen!
