Pressure Washing

Cleaning things up

Remember the post where I talked about my dream house?  So…  A lot has happened since then.  A LOT!  Andy and I agreed on painting the house white.  As I’ve told you before, Andy and I rarely agree on decor.   Because of that,  color harmony was a major victory for us.  Add to that, we agreed to DIY it and I’m certain I should have bought a lottery ticket that day.  The stars don’t align like that very often in this house.

Prior to painting a house, you have to pressure wash it.  We looked into renting a pressure washer but quickly realized the rental expense was nearly as much as buying it and…  since we are painting our house white, we will definitely need it down the road.  So, Andy did a little research online with Consumer Reports and we chose to buy a Generac pressure washer.  We bought THIS ONE at Menards.

Clearly, I have lived quite the sheltered life.  I had NO idea what pressure washing could do.  It made things look SO much better!  Everything looked cleaner and newer and that made me SO happy!!  Of course, it didn’t make me happy enough that I’ll skip painting my house but still…  It’s an awesome transformation.

Look at this…  The left is the unwashed patio.  The right is washed.

Before and After…

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I thought the concrete was old.  Now I feel dumb AND dirty.  Would you look at the wall of the house???!!!  I thought it was stained from gutter gunk.  I had no idea that would come off so easily with pressure washing.

Look at the difference pressure washing makes!!  After seeing this, Andy and I were washing anything that wasn’t nailed down.  Now that the exterior is clean, it’s ready for paint.  Stay tuned to see what came next…  and please don’t judge my dirty exterior.  It’s improving.  I swear.

XOXO
